Certifications & Milestones
I was born and raised in Nashville Tennessee. I have been involved in some sort of athletics for my entire life. Playing soccer at University of North Carolina resulted in me having multiple knee surgeries. Due to that, I took up bike racing. I discovered yoga as a cross training exercise for cycling. The strength, focus, and clarity I found in yoga really improved my performance on the bike. I have practiced regularly for over 20 years.
3.5 years ago I enrolled in the 200 hour yoga teacher training program at Hollywood Market Yoga (HMY) with Gabriel Azoulay. It has really changed my perspective of yoga and the practice itself. My athletic background is certainly a huge influence on the classes that I teach at HMY.
“I am always looking for new ideas and inspirations for my classes. My goal is to challenge students and push them to a place where they can discover something new about themselves.”
I am currently pursuing a 500 hour yoga medicine teacher training certification with Tiffany Cruikshank. I have taken advanced training courses with Gabriel Azoulay. I have studied sequencing with Anton Mackey and Jason Crandell. I have also studied adjustments and alignment with Amy Ippoliti.
When I am not teaching, I work as a physician assistant. I’ve been a physician assistant for 19 years. I currently work for Idaho Sports Medicine Institute. I feel that my background in medicine and my knowledge of anatomy provides an excellent foundation from which to teach yoga.
My other interests include trail running, mountain biking, cooking, listening to music, and most importantly spending time with my family. My husband Steve, my seven year-old daughter Caroline, and our dog Wilson continue to enjoy many fun adventures in and around the mountains of Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Oregon.
